Accelerator Physics Group Meeting 8/29/01 Present: J. Galambos, S. Henderson, D. Jeon. S. Danilov, S. Aleksandrov, S. Kim, M. Doleans, S. Cousineau J. Galambos discussed magnet measurment and signal issues. Different signals wil be available for full cycle and for quick setting of the fields. Magnet measurement tolerance cirteria need to be specified for the accuracy of the B(I) measurments. S. Henderson discussed damping schemes. ~ 3 kW are needed for 0.1 msec repsonse time to damp 50-100 MHz instabilities (with a 1 mm initial deflection, using a 1 m stripline). For higher frequency instabilities (e.g. e-p) shorter striplines are needed (multiple striplines). The coating work is being written up. J. Holems and S. Cousineau discussed the PSR experiments. The primary effect investigated was space charge studies, with different longitudinal bunching factors affected by a notched chopping shape. Sasha discusseed MEBT commsisioning schemes pointing a=out the importance of accuraly account for the bunch shape when calculating the BPM phase response (i.e. not simply using the average bunch position). D. Jeon is studying linac commisionig schemes to determine the number and resolution of wire scanners needed to indicate beam mismatch. S. Kim is doing Faraday cup matching analysis with MAFIA. Paul Chu has incorporated the application programming structure in CVS and is working on the transfer of information from the database to XML to the AP infrastucure. J. Wei noted that we need to get the linac modeling codes (tottatis, impact and parwin).
