Sample Environment - FAQ

Q: How do I mount my sample in a cryostat or other sample environment device?

A: SNS maintains an inventory of standard sample cans (most are thin-walled aluminum cylinders).  Staff will assist you in finding, loading, and mounting your sample.  Contact us in advance if you need a special sample holder.

Q: How do I mount the sample environment device on the beamline instrument?

A: Only trained staff will mount these devices to the beamline instrument.  All SE devices are equipped with standardized mounting flanges.

Q: How do I get basic supplies like nuts & bots?

A: The sample environment prep area is stocked with the basics, and team members will help you.
