Applied Power Systems, Inc. is a power electronics company specializing in engineering and manufacturing of power conversion systems, pulse power electronics and thermal management of high power semiconductors. APS applies unique, high technology solutions in the design and manufacture of a broad array of power control systems, ranging from high power AC and DC Power Supplies, to pulse power assemblies, to Driver Circuits for IGBT, SCR and MOSFET devices.

Our expertise is in designing and manufacturing power and power control systems including custom linear and switching power supplies, solid-state power switches, auxiliary power systems, power driver and control circuit boards and high power electronic assemblies including a complete line of high voltage stack assemblies for pulsed power applications. Our pulsed power products and power supplies are used at many of the National Laboratories including Brookhaven, Oak Ridge, Lawrence Livermore, Princeton Plasma Physics, Bettis, Knolls Atomic Power, NASA Glenn Research Center and Fermi Laboratories, as well as throughout a wide array of industries.

APS designs and produces high power inverters and converters, complete with control electronics that are being used throughout many industries. Our expertise covers complete design of high power conversion systems including thermal management; semiconductor utilization, power system packaging and microprocessor based programmable control. We have a great deal of experience in designing and mechanically packaging high power electronics as well electrically designing driver and control electronics for many applications.

We design and manufacture a complete series of solid-state assembly products for high voltage and high current rectifiers, SCRs, IGBTs and MOSFETS including a complete series of compression clamps used for clamping high power press-pack (hockey puck) style assemblies and have a series of corona-free clamps specifically designed for high voltage assemblies. We design, produce and integrate high power assemblies into both air-cooled and liquid-cooled power systems.

APS offers one of the largest selections of high power thermal management products in the industry. The products include standard and custom aluminum extrusion heat sinks for natural convection and forced air-cooling. Cast and machined copper chill plates for liquid cooling. State of the art clamps for flat pack or hockey puck semiconductors. Selections of driver circuit boards drive SCR, IGBT and MOSFET devices. We also offer standard and custom power stages called the ICEPAC ™ and SixPac ™ that integrate IGBTs, DC link capacitors, laminated bus, driver and protection circuits as well as SCRs and Diodes in a single, compact unit.
