PAC05 SNS Tour

The Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) is a new, accelerator-based science facility that will provide neutron beams with up to ten times more intensity than any other source in the world. A motorcoach tour of the facility departed from the Knoxville Convention Center (KCC) at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, and returned to the KCC after lunch. The tour included an overview of the SNS project, including the specific components of the front end, klystron gallery, linear accelerator, accumulator ring, and target facility. Industrial vendors were positioned near their equipment to provide additional information.

More than 400 people participated in the tour.
