Museums
- American Museum of Science and Energy: Oak Ridge’s science museum complete with exhibits on the Cold War, World War II, Robots, the Spallation Neutron Source, Y-12, and the atom, just to name a few.
- Children's Museum of Oak Ridge: Some of this museum's exhibits include Model Trains, Appalachian Heritage, Knoxville in the 1910s, and International Hall. A two-story dollhouse offeres a place for children to explore.
- Museum of Appalachia: The Museum of Appalachia provides visitors with a look at life in Appalachia during pioneer times.
- Frank H. McClung Museum: On the University of Tennessee campus, the McClung Museum houses everything from archaeology to decorative arts.

Food
Oak Ridge and Knoxville offer a variety of places to dine out. Knoxville, being a larger city, has more variety. Check the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitors Bureau for Oak Ridge restaurants. Most Oak Ridge restaurants are located on the Oak Ridge Turnpike (Hwy 95) or Illinois Avenue and are open until 10:00 p.m. Check the telephone directory yellow pages for listings. Most of these restaurants don't take reservations.
The Doubletree Hotel is the only hotel in Oak Ridge with a restaurant on site. Other Oak Ridge hotels are within convenient walking distance to restaurants. In Oak Ridge, corner markets, grocery stores, and fast food restaurants are located mostly on Illinois Avenue and the Oak Ridge Turnpike (Hwy 95).

Food City, Food Lion, Kroger, and Wal-mart are the area's major grocery chains. In Oak Ridge, major grocery stores, Kroger, Food City, Wal-mart, and a variety of quick marts/gas stations are located on the Oak Ridge Turnpike or Illinois Avenue. Some are open 24 hours.
Specialty markets providing gourmet and ethnic foods can be found in the telephone directory under Gourmet Shops or Health Food Shops; two major ones in Knoxville are The Fresh Market and Earth Fare. In Oak Ridge, The Epicurean offers gourmet and health food as well as health supplements. It’s located at 43 East Tennessee Avenue and can be reached at (865) 483-1541.
Liquor and wine are sold in liquor stores dispersed throughout the area.
Sports
- The University of Tennessee boasts Volunteer athletics from gymnastics, to soccer, to football. There is usually at least one sport going on all year. Complete list of sports, rosters, and ticket information can be found on-line.
- The Tennessee Titans are a professional football team that is part of the National Football League. They are stationed in Nashville, which is about three hours away from Oak Ridge.
- The Smokies are a minor league baseball class AA team and an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. They are stationed in Sevierville, about an hour away from Oak Ridge.
- The American Youth Soccer League is a community league divided by age and gender for persons aged 4 to 19.
- The Boys and Girls Clubs of America offer basketball, baseball, and other after school activities to young adults.
