Labs and Soft Matter Group Leader

Luke Heroux earned his PhD in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2021.  As Group Leader for Labs and Soft Matter, he is focused on effective and safe operations of labs spaces, sample management, and soft matter sample environments within Neutron Sciences.  Dr. Heroux joined ORNL in 2005 as a Scientific Associate and has led efforts in construction, commissioning and operations of various neutron scattering instruments, including POWGEN, CORELLI, USANS, and most recently Bio-SANS.  During this time, he also led efforts for facility improvements in sample tracking and containment, and instrumentation upgrades.  Dr. Heroux’s research focuses on structural studies of electron transport in soft matter including conjugated polymers, deep eutectic solvents, and microemulsion systems.
