Distinguished Research Staff, Chemical Spectroscopy Group Leader in ORNL's Neutron Scattering Division, BWAVES Instrument Scientist at SNS Second Target Station Project

Eugene Mamontov received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999. He was a postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Takeshi Egami at the University of Pennsylvania until 2003, when he became a research associate at the National Institute of Standards and Technology Center for Neutron Research and the University of Maryland. Since 2006, he has been a staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, serving as an Instrument Scientist for the First SNS Target Station BASIS (2006-2022) and the Second SNS Target Station BWAVES (2022-present) neutron spectrometers, as well as a Group Leader for the Chemical Spectroscopy Group (2023-present). His current research interests concern microscopic dynamics in various systems, from solids and liquids to biological and soft matter, and neutron scattering instrumentation. He is a co-author of more than 250 peer-reviewed publications.
