Scientific Associate, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN July 2007 - 2015

Supported construction, installation, commissioning, and user operation of the time-of-flight chopper spectrometer instruments at the Spallation Neutron Source. Served in the role of local contact, which entailed actively participating in all aspects of user experiments, interpretation of data, and publication of results. Worked concurrently to plan upgrades including commissioning large sample environment equipment and scattering optics. Developed a suite of tools to analyze instrument performance. Worked closely with safety personnel to ensure safe and reliable operation of the instrument. Coordinated maintenance and repairs as required on the instrument and subsystems. Developed experimental program utilizing the neutron scattering facilities at ORNL. Worked with the Center for Accelerating Materials Modeling in ongoing effort related to visualization and optimization of lattice dynamics simulations.

Operations Coordinator, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, NY April 2006 - July 2007

Oversaw shift personnel and the operation of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) accelerator complex as part of a rotating shift team. Acted as on-site emergency coordinator during running periods and safety coordinator during off hours. Ensured safe operation of accelerator systems, and adherence to environmental regulations. Managed projects to update accelerator sequencing software and operations documentation. Developed, conducted, and analyzed beam experiments to improve accelerator optics and alignment.

Physics Associate, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, NY Sept. 2003 - April 2006

Responsible for beam operation, access to radiation areas, and adherence to radiation safety procedures as part of a rotating shift team at the RHIC accelerator complex. Acted as a liaison between experimenters and staff, assisted physicists with studies, and worked independently on computer models of beam dynamics and accelerator optics.
