A new nanomaterials-handling lab recently opened in the second floor lab suites (G-202A) of the SNS Central Laboratory and Office Building (CLO). This lab expands the area staff and users have to work with nanomaterials, which was previously limited to the South Side User Lab in the SNS Experiment Hall.

The new lab is equipped with a hood, glove box, and vacuum oven that are approved for use with nanomaterials. Rhonda Moody, lab space manager, has worked diligently getting the lab in working condition and pursuing modification of the facility use agreement to allow the work to occur.

As with all user labs, to use this space visitors and staff must complete both the online Scientific Laboratory Access Training for Neutron Sciences Users and a site-specific walkthrough.

The Neutron Sciences Scientific Laboratories Team is continually making improvements to the user laboratories in an effort to make work easier and safer for staff and visitors, and they welcome input regarding additional improvements. Please contact Jaimie Werner, Scientific Laboratories team leader, or email neutronlabs@ornl.gov with questions, requests, or suggestions.
