Helen He

Helen He is a Scientific Associate in ORNL’s Neutron Scattering Division, supporting TOPAZ and MANDI Instruments.  Helen uses neutron scattering techniques to characterize diverse protein samples in order to study the structure and dynamics of materials.  Helen’s peers describe her as an invaluable member whose dedication to innovation is noted in her meticulous communication with users and constant dedication to improving instrument capabilities. 

Helen keeps busy balancing her professional career while raising two daughters (15-year-old and 8-year-old) sharing responsibilities with her husband, who is also an instrument scientist in Neutron Scattering division.  During her free time, Helen enjoys hiking, cooking, reading, and watching movies. 
Communication is the key to my position. It helps to clearly understand the scientific goal of the experiment and helps to coordinate with the instrument scientists, the users, and the support groups to ensure the experiment safe and successful."
