SWC Labs

The Biophysical Characterization Suite (BCS) is part of the suite of Neutron Scattering Division laboratories located in the Shull Wolhan Center (SWC). The BCS is dedicated to the preparation and characterization of lipid vesicle samples with the use of a suite of biophysical instruments. Key capabilities include a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry instrument, two differential scanning calorimeters, a density meter instrument, a isothermal titration calorimetry instrument, two dynamic light scattering instruments, fluorometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, and multiple centrifuges. Many of these characterization techniques can be used in coordination with neutron scattering beam time to ensure lipid vesicle samples are properly prepared and stable.
