Research
The SNS accelerator research program addresses several open questions in beam physics:
- Can we increase hadron beam intensities by orders of magnitude without increasing particle losses?
- Can we predict and control intense beams at the level of individual particles in six-dimensional phase space?
This research has experimental, computational, and theoretical components, with a focus on collective effects that drive nonlinear dynamics, halo formation, and instabilites.
