SHUG User Meetings

User meetings are held every other year and are co-organized by the SHUG Executive Committee and ORNL Neutron Scattering Division staff. Every four years, this meeting is also a joint event co-organized with ORNL’s Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences. Town halls are also held in parallel with the American Conference on Neutron Scattering (ACNS) meeting on the off years. User meetings are major events for the North American neutron scattering community and typically include plenary speakers, themed parallel sessions, workshops, town halls, facilities tours, panel discussions, and poster sessions.

2023 Neutron Scattering User Meeting

The SNS/HFIR User Group (SHUG) is pleased to announce the 2023 Neutron Scattering User Meeting to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 6-7, 2023, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), with workshops and tutorials held on June 5 and 8.

The meeting theme is Neutron Sciences: Expanding the Reach. Topics to be explored include combining neutrons and complementary techniques; devising new methods such as pump-probe, quantum information, and machine learning; and advancing neutron technology through new instruments and sample environments. The meeting will highlight the research achievements of SNS and HFIR users, staff and the broader neutron scattering communities.
