Neutrons are ideal for use in researching and developing advanced battery materials and battery manufacturing techniques. ORNL is also home to one of the largest open access battery R&D facilities in the United States, the Battery Manufacturing Facility, which offers users the equipment and instrumentation necessary to research every step in the battery development and manufacturing process, including advanced materials, electrode formulation chemistry, innovative coating technology, and high-performance electrode architectures.
