Neutron scattering is an emerging tool for drug discovery and development, providing information about atomic and molecular structures and interactions not possible through any other method. Neutrons can probe the 3D structures of fundamental genetic materials, such as DNA and RNA molecules, to help verify and enhance computer simulations. Biomedical materials and devices can also be studied nondestructively to measure production quality and identify potential issues, such as residual stress, caused by manufacturing processes.
